You may have set specific goals for your physical health—you want to reach a specific weight, bench press a certain amount, or be able to run a marathon in a specific amount of time.

Likewise, you may have some mental health goals such as learning how to manage your stress better. But do you have any oral health goals? If you don’t, you should! Here are some of the goals you should make for your oral health.

Cut Back on Sugar
This goal can dovetail nicely with your plans to lose weight or eat healthier. If you cut back on sugary drinks and foods, you’ll have fewer cavities. The bacteria that cause cavities feed off of sugar, so be removing their food source, you’ll keep them from multiplying as much. In addition to reducing your risk of cavities, you’ll also protect your gums and won’t suffer from bad breath as often.

Brush Regularly

Another good oral health goal is to brush at least twice a day and floss once. It’s often hard to get into the habit of doing this, but once you do, you’ll find that it doesn’t take much time. In fact, it really takes less than 15 minutes to brush twice a day and floss once. Once you start doing this regularly, it will become a habit and you’ll hardly think twice about it.
