Things to Avoid If You Have Dental Veneers
Posted on 7/7/2020 by John
Things to Avoid If You Have Dental VeneersDental veneers are a nice, easy way to improve the aesthetic appearance of your teeth. They are like makeup in the sense that they are used to cover-up your natural teeth. If you have an important event to attend to and just do not have the days/weeks to achieve a naturally white set of teeth, there is absolutely nothing wrong with turning to veneers.

However, there are certain things you should avoid when wearing veneers, these are not meant to replace your teeth, they are purely for cosmetics. We will be discussing some of the major things you need to steer clear of.

Food To Avoid When Wearing Veneers

Right off the bat, we can say that you should avoid anything that is a challenge to chew. Beef jerky, hard candy, chewy candy, and chomping on ice should be avoided. Instead, choose foods that are easy on the teeth such as pasta, eggs, and bananas. Essentially, you want to almost eat like you are recovering from a surgical procedure. This applies mainly to temporary veneers - permanent veneers are able to handle “chewy” foods with some caution since they are made of high-grade porcelain.

Next, food and drinks that are prone to staining your veneers are also off the list. After all, the intended use for temporary veneers is to give the appearance of bright white teeth - you definitely don't want to ruin the point of wearing them! Red wine, for example, is a big culprit in staining both natural teeth and veneers. Coffee is also part of this dynamic beverage duo. Tomato-based foods such as ketchup and red pizza are also ready to stain your veneers.
